If you love the Harry Potter books and movies like I do, then I am sure you would love to ride the Hogwarts Express. And there are ways to do it. You could do it a Universal Studios theme park. But you can also do it in Scotland.
Doing it in Scotland is a great way to really immerse yourself in the Harry Potter verse. You get to see the places that inspired JK Rowling when she was writing the books. You also get to see filming locations from the movies.
And you can do all this starting in Edinburgh. You’ll meet at The Elephant House on 21 George IV Bridge in Edinburgh, Scotland.
You’ll then get transportation via coach to Fort William. Along the way to Fort William, you’ll get to enjoy the wilderness of Rannoch Moor. You also get to see the volcanic glen that was in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
In Fort Williams, you get to board the Hogwarts Express steam train!
Your Hogwarts Express train crosses the Victorian-era Glenfinnan Viaduct. Then you get views of Loch Shiel from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. You also get to see the location of the Triwizard Tournament from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
The Hogwarts Express then takes you to the fishing village of Mallaig. There, you’ll have lunch.
After lunch, you’ll board the Hogwarts Express again to finish your magical journey and head back to Fort William. Your driver and guide will be waiting for you there, and they will take you back to Edinburgh.
Another fun thing about this tour is that it not exclusively about Harry Potter. You also learn about Scotland and the general history of Scotland. And you get amazing views of the Scottish Highlands.
