North of Milan is Italy’s breathtakingly beautiful Lake District region, with its alpine scenery and beautiful bodies of water. Lake Como is the most well known. You’ll take the train from Milan to Varenna, a charming village on Lake Como. Meet your guide and walk through the narrow streets. Your guide will tell you about the history of the area and take you to interesting off the beaten path places. You’ll be driven to Valtellina Valley, a valley that begins at the top of Lake Como. An optional lunch is available at a traditional restaurant. Then you’ll go to the scenic vineyards sitting in the lower part of the Alps. You will have the opportunity to take part in a wine tasting with wines from this area and accompanied by cold cuts and cheeses. On your way back to the station, you’ll have several stops which will give you panoramic views of this beautiful area. Your tour ends with your train ride back to Milan.
