IndiaFest Milwaukee has become a Wisconsin tradition. For the past nine years, it’s been held in August. The goal of IndiaFest Milwaukee is to promote diversity, inclusion and culture as well as bringing communities together.
Independence Day in India is celebrated on August 15th every year. It marks the end of British rule in 1947 and the establishment of an independent, free India. Independence Day in India is a national holiday. It is celebrated throughout the country with speeches, parades and parties.
The 10th annual IndiaFest Milwaukee will observe India’s 76th Independence Day. Distinguished community leaders will be introduced. The national anthem of India and the national anthem of the United States will be performed.
India’s tricolor flag will be raised and honored. Called the Tricolor, it has horizontal stripes of
- India saffron representing courage and sacrifice
- White representing peace and truth
- India green representing faith and chivalry
The Ashoka Chakra, a 24 spoke wheel in navy blue, is at its center.
