If you’d like a romantic lead in to Valentine’s Day for you and your someone special, I’ve got a great concert for you!  Valentine’s Soul Jam is coming to The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana, in the greater Chicago area.  This will be happening on February 9, 2024.  Nothing says romance like beautiful music with heartfelt lyrics.

Artists

Valentine’s Soul Jam will showcase a great line up of incredibly talented artists.

Russell Thompkins, Jr.

Russell Thonpkins, Jr., is a soul singer known for being the lead singer of the Stylistics.  He is noted for his high tenor, countertenor and falsetto vocals.  The Stylistics with Thompkins as lead singer had 12 straight Top 10 Billboard R&B singles and 5 gold singles in the early 1990s.  In 2023, Rolling Stone placed Thompkins as the Number 142 on its list of the 200 greatest artists of all time.

The New Stylistics

The New Stylistics have two of the original members – Airrion Love and Herb Marshall.  They are joined by Jason Sharp (formerly of Heatwave) and Barrington “Bo” Henderson (formerly of the Temptations).

After more than a 40 year career, Thompkins & the New Stylistics are still performing their hits, including “You Are Everything,” “You Make Me Feel Brand New,” “Break Up To Make Up,” “Betcha By Golly Wow” and “You’ll Never Get To Heaven (If You Break My Heart).”

Bloodstone

Bloodstone is a soul, funk and R&B group.  They were most popular in the 1970s and early 1980s.  Their breakthrough came with the classic “Natural High” and album of the same name.  They had 5 Top 10 R&B hits.  

Heatwave

Heatwave is a disco funk band formed in 1975 in London.  The original group had 2 members from Dayton, Ohio, 2 Englishmen, one from Switzerland, one from Czechoslovakia and one from Jamaica.  Their greatest hits include “Boogie Nights,” “Posin’ Til Closin’,” “Always And Forever,” “Lettin’ It Loose” and “The Groove Line.”

Enchantment 

Enchantment is a soul/R&B group from Detroit.  They hit the Top 5 on the R&B chart in 1977 and 1978 with three soul classics, “Gloria,” “It’s You That I Need” and “Sunshine.”

The Intruders

The Intruders is a soul group that were most popular in the 1960s and 1970s.  They were a doo wap group that was influenced by gospel.  They influenced the development of Philly soul.  Their hits include “Love Is Like A Baseball Game” and “I’ll Always Love My Mama.”

At this great concert, you’ll hear some of the greatest songs ever recorded by the artists that made them famous.  And you’ll get to hear their new material.  There’s a reason why this is called soul music.
