Whether you are a huge Friends fan like I am or even if you are just a casual fan, I think you will love The Friends Experience. It is a really neat experience for anyone who’s watched the popular sitcom. It will make you feel like you’ve entered into the sitcom.
How they do that is with interactive set recreations. You will be able to walk into recreations of iconic set locations like:
- Monica & Rachel’s Apartment
- Joey & Chandler’s Apartment
- Central Perk
You also get to relive the famous PIVOT! scene!
These make wonderful photo opportunities. And speaking of photo opportunities, you’ll be able to pose on the iconic orange couch from the opening credits. And dance in front of the fountain! Additionally, there are props and costumes from the show on display.
The whole experience takes about an hour. And once you are done exploring, check out the Friends Experience Store. You’ll be able to purchase things like Central Perk mugs and Monica’s Strawberry Breakup Jam.
This whole experience reminds me of when I went to California and did the Warner Brothers Studio Tour. I got to pose in a Central Perk set recreation, and of course I bought a Central Perk shirt while I was there.
But this is a way more expansive, more immersive experience. And you don’t have to go out to California to experience it. The Friends Experience: The One Near Detroit takes place at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
But please be aware that, unlike the tour in California, The Friends Experience: The One Near Detroit is a limited-time exhibit. In fact, it ends quite soon. The last day of the experience is Sunday, September 24, 2023. So you need to act quickly to experience this before it leaves.
