Exciting times ahead for the New York Liberty! The New York WNBA team will be hosting its Inaugural Battle of the Boroughs and Sneakerhead Night on July 23, 2022, at 7:00 PM a the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. This is presented by Nike. It is a great night to celebrate all the sneakerheads out there.
You should also be treated to seeing some great basketball. Not only can you enjoy the great basketball skills of popular Liberty players like Natasha Howard, Sabrina Ionescu, Michaela Onyenwere, and Xu Han. But you also get to see the Liberty take on the reigning WNBA Champions Chicago Sky, led by great players like Candace Parker,
Courtney Vandersloot, Kahleah Copper, and Emma Meesseman.
Sneaker Drive
But those aren’t the only reasons to attend this event. It also supports a great cause. The New York Liberty is joining forces with Soles4Souls. This is important because this is a cause Brittney Griner cares about very deeply. In fact, Brittney herself started the BG’s Heart and Sole Shoe Drive with the Phoenix Mercury after she saw unhoused persons in the Arizona summer heat without shoes. The BG’s Heart and Sole Shoe Drive collects new or gently used shoes.
Similarly, during Sneakerhead Night, you can bring new or gently used sneakers to Barclays Center and donate them to a Soles4Souls donation box. To reward you for your philanthropy, you’ll even get two free tickets to tickets to the Sunday, July 31 game against the (who else?) Phoenix Mercury. This is not only a great cause, and not only a great way for you to get free Liberty tickets. But it is a great way to assist in the WNBA teams’ efforts to try to do the things that Brittney Griner herself would be doing if she were home and not detained in Russia.
