Oktoberfest is returning to Sugar Mountain, North Carolina. Sugar Mountain Resort is having its 33rd annual Oktoberfest on October 7 and 8, 2023, from 10 am to 5 pm.
The Harbour Town Fest Band will be performing each afternoon. Admission, parking and shuttle service are free.
Take in the lovely fall foliage and enjoy the cool, comfortable mountain temperatures. This event is family friendly so be sure to bring the kids.

Saturday
- 10 am – Oktoberfest Opens to the Public
- 10 am to 5 pm – Summit Express Chairlift Rides
- 10 am to 5 pm – Arts & Crafts Open
- 10 am to 5 pm – Sports Shop Open – Lower Level Base Lodge
- 11 am – Oktoberfest Opening Ceremony
- Noon to 4 pm – Harbour Town Fest Band
- 11 am to 5 pm – Kids Fun Center – Play Yard
- 4 pm to 5 pm – Bavarian Costume Contest – Dance Floor
Sunday
- 10 am – Oktoberfest Opens

Geier’s Sausage Kitchen will be selling Bavarian food items, including Bratwurst, Knockwurst, Sauerkraut, Strudel and Soft Pretzels. The German food will be available at 11 am both days. Spaten beer will be flowing each day from 10 am until 5 pm. Hamburgers, soda, kettle corn and other festival food will also be available for purchase.
The Oktoberfest Costume Contest will be held on Saturday afternoon. There’s no entry fee and anyone in a Bavarian costume or Oktoberfest related costume can compete. The winner will be chosen by crowd response and there will be prizes.

During the fest, take a ride on the Summit Express Chairlift to the top of Sugar Mountain. Enjoy stunning views of the fall foliage.
Kids Fun Center has inflatables, corn hole, water balloon toss, pumpkin bowling, hay rides and more. A hay ride will cost $5. Kids Fun Center with a hay ride is $20.
