The festival will celebrate all things Afrobeats. It is vibrant, popular music that originated in Nigeria in the late 1960s. It emphasizes percussion rhythms and features elements of jazz and funk. The lyrics are often very political. African and Nigerian chants and rhythms are often featured.
Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeat stars are Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy. With more than 15 billion streams, Afrobeats as a genre is making a global impact.
