Hola amigos! Grab your sombrero, poncho and friends and head out to The Nick to celebrate Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the ill equipped Mexican Army over the much larger French Army in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. This victory became a symbol of Mexican resistance to foreign domination. This date is now celebrated worldwide.
If you live in or near Birmingham, Alabama, The Nick is the place to be for the Cinco de Mayo celebration. It is located at 10th Avenue South. The Nick is a private club. A membership card will cost $5 per year with a valid 21+ ID.
The doors will open on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 8 pm. The show will begin at 9 pm.
Mechanyzed will be hosting the Cinco de Mayo party that night and Mortalus will be headlining the show.
Mortalus is a Heavy Metal Band from Little Rock, Arkansas, whose music can best be described as “modern old school.” Their influences range from Iron Maiden and Judas Priest to Evergreen, Nightwish, D.R.I. and Toto.
Mortalus is fronted by a Category 5 hurricane known as “Metal” Michelle Gann. She’s an impressive lead vocalist with intense guitar skills. Byron “Bedrok” Bedgood is the bassist and vocalist. And you’ll enjoy the intensity of Drummer Patrick “Gumbo” Mahooney. This trio writes and records music filled with power, melody and passion.
Also performing will be the band Sinema. They are a 4 piece hard rock band from Birmingham. You’ll enjoy hearing their exciting sound and seeing their engaging stage performance.
