Maurice White founded Earth, Wind & Fire in 1969.  He named the group after elements from his astrological chart.  

In the past 55 years, they have become one of the best selling artists of all time.  The group has had 8 #1 hits and sold more than 100 million albums worldwide.  They’ve released 23 albums with 8 of them going Double Platinum.  They’ve gotten 9 Grammy Awards.  Earth, Wind & Fire has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and have received the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors.

Earth, Wind & Fire are currently in the Heart & Soul Tour 2024.  Chicago will be joining them when they appear at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte on August 13, 2024, at 7:30 pm.

Chicago

Founded in 1967 as The Big Thing, the group changed its name to Chicago Transit Authority.  When the authentic Chicago Transit Authority threatened to sue, the name was shortened to Chicago.

The original group included Terry Kath (guitar, vocals), Robert Lamm (keyboards, vocals), Walter Parazaidery (saxophone), Lee Loughnane (trumpet), James Pankow (trombone) and drummer Danny Seraphine.  Joining Chicago in 1967 was Peter Cetera (bassist, vocals).  Their lineup has changed many times.  The current group includes Lamm, Loughnane and Parker plus Neil Donell (vocals), Ray Hermann (saxophone) and drummer Walfredo Reyes, Jr.

In over 50 years, Chicago released 36 albums, sold over 100 million records and issued 20 Top 10 Pop and 22 Top 10 Adult Contemporary records.
