The cart toppled into the ocean pinning the girls down under it. By the time the worker was able to move the heavy cart, only the youngest girl was still alive. The girls that died were the 13 and 15 year old daughters of the Construction Superintendent named Hezekiah Pittee.
The Pittees had been living in the Lighthouse Keeps house. They went home to bury their daughters and never returned. Over the next 149 years, there have been so many sightings of two girls in the house, especially in the basement.
Giggling has been heard as well as footsteps when no one is there. There have been numerous sightings of girls who disappear into thin air. They are believed to be the Pittee girls. EMF meters register the electrical activity caused by “spirits” and these meters most often spike in the basement.
