It’s September, and that means it is National Hispanic Heritage Month.  And DFW Culture Events will be celebrating this with their very first DFW Chicano Festival!

This is a one-day event that is hosted by Cheech Marin.  It takes place on September 24th, 2023 in Dallas, Texas.

This event celebrates important contributions throughout Latinx history and highlights “Chicano” culture that exists not just in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, but nationwide as well (it is, after all, National Hispanic Heritage Month!).

This event features lots of live performances.  You’ll see Live B Boy Break dancing Aztec dancers.  There’s live music including Mariachi performances.  There’s even live Chicano art by a local artist.

In fact, here is a line-up of the event:

  • 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM: Mariachi Mexico USA
  • 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM: Los Komberz Dallas
  • 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM: Tejano Outlaw Band
  • 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Tenochtitlan Folklorico
  • 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Los Chiles Rellenos
  • 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM: Danza Azteca
  • 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM: Los Garcia Brothers

DFW Culture Events will also be collaborating with many “Lowrider” car enthusiasts from various ethnic backgrounds.  There are contests and local vendors in attendance.  There’s also great food and drinks, as there will be great local food, cocktails, and cold beer.

The whole event should be a lot of fun.  It’s great for the whole family so if you have kids, you should definitely bring them.  Especially since children ages 10 years old and younger can get into the event for free.
