There are a lot of fun things to do in Atlanta, Georgia. In fact, if you’re planning a trip to Atlanta, the cost of separate activities can really add up. Luckily, there is an easy way to save money on some of the best Atlanta attractions. And that is by purchasing the Atlanta CityPASS!
But whether or not the Atlanta CityPass is worth it has to do with how many of its included attractions you’ll be visiting:
- 5 Attractions – Get the CityPass
- 4 Attractions – Get the CityPass
- 3 Attractions – Depends on which attractions
- 2 Attractions – Depends on which attractions
- 1 Attraction – Don’t get the CityPass
Today, we’ll explain what that means. We’ll share exactly when the Atlanta City Pass is worth the cost – and when you shouldn’t get it. But first, let’s go over what the pass is and how it works.
How The Atlanta CityPass Works
With the Atlanta CityPASS, you’ll get admission to 5 attractions.
Here are the 5 attractions, along with their same-day box office prices for adults (if you pay for them separately):
- Georgia Aquarium – $69.99
- Zoo Atlanta – $37.95
- World of Coca-Cola – $27.95
- College Football Hall of Fame – $34.89
- Fernbank Museum of Natural History – $30.95
- National Center for Civil and Human Rights – $26.00
Please note that we are looking at the prices before taxes. And we’ll only be looking at adult prices.
Although the pass includes 5 attractions, you may not have time during your trip to get to all 5 places. Whether or not the pass is worth the cost depends on how many attractions you visit – and sometimes, which attractions you visit as well.
5 Attractions
Let’s start by looking at how much it costs if you will be visiting all 5 attractions.
Now, let’s pretend you want to visit the 5 cheapest attractions, because if the CityPass is cheaper than buying the cheapest attractions separately, then the CityPass will also be cheaper than buying more expensive attractions separately.
If you’re going with the 5 cheapest attractions, those would be everything except for the Georgia Aquarium:
- Zoo Atlanta – $37.95
- World of Coca-Cola – $27.95
- College Football Hall of Fame – $34.89
- Fernbank Museum of Natural History – $30.95
- National Center for Civil and Human Rights – $26.00
Without the CityPASS, for adult admission to those five you’d pay $37.95 + $27.95 + $34.89 + $30.95 + $26.00 = $157.74.
The Atlanta CityPASS, however, costs $106.00.
This means that with the Atlanta City Pass, you save $157.74 – $106.00 = $51.74!
And if you replace any one of those attractions with the more expensive Georgia Aquarium, you’ll save even more money.
4 Attractions
Now let’s take a look at what would happen if you wanted to do four attractions – the four cheapest possible.
The four cheapest attractions you could currently visit with the Atlanta CityPass are:
- World of Coca-Cola – $27.95
- College Football Hall of Fame – $34.89
- Fernbank Museum of Natural History – $30.95
- National Center for Civil and Human Rights – $26.00
To do all four attractions, it would cost $27.95 + $34.89 + $30.95 + $26.00 = $119.79.
But the Atlanta CityPASS is only $106.00. So purchasing the CityPASS would save you $119.79 – $106.00 = $13.79.
And that’s just if you do the four cheapest attractions. If you replace one of those activities with the Georgia Aquarium or Zoo Atlanta (which are both more expensive), you’ll save even more money.
3 Attractions
What if you are only planning on doing 3 attractions?
Whether or not the City Pass is a good deal all depends on if you’re planning on visiting the Georgia Aquarium. (That’s because, as we mentioned earlier, the Georgia Aquarium is the most expensive attraction included in the CityPass.)
Georgia Aquarium and 2 Other Attractions
Let’s say you want to visit the Georgia Aquarium and also the two cheapest options. This would be:
- Georgia Aquarium – $69.99
- World of Coca-Cola – $27.95
- National Center for Civil and Human Rights – $26.00
If you paid for these activities separately, it would cost you $69.99 + $27.95 + $26.00 = $123.94.
It would be cheaper to buy the CityPASS for $106.00. You’ll save $123.94 – $106.00 = $17.94.
And if you replaced World or Coca-Cola and/or National Center for Civil and Human Rights with the more expensive Zoo Atlanta, Fernbank Museum of Natural History and/or College Football Hall of Fame, it would still be cheaper to buy the CityPass.
3 Attractions (Excluding the Georgia Aquarium)
On the other hand, what if you wanted to visit three attractions, but you weren’t going to include a trip to the Georgia Aquarium in your plans?
Let’s say you want to visit the three most expensive attractions (not counting the Georgia Aquarium). That would be these three:
- Zoo Atlanta – $37.95
- College Football Hall of Fame – $34.89
- Fernbank Museum of Natural History – $30.95
If you paid for them individually, that would come to $37.95 + $34.89 + $30.95 = $103.79. That is cheaper than the CityPass, since that is $106.00.
And if you chose World of Coca-Cola and/or National Center for Civil and Human Rights instead of Zoo Atlanta, College Football Hall of Fame and/or Fernbank Museum of Natural History, then the total of all those individual activities would be even cheaper – so it would still be cheaper than buying the CityPass.
2 Attractions
What if you were only going to visit two of the attractions included on the CityPass during your trip to Atlanta?
Let’s say you chose the two most expensive activities on the list:
- Georgia Aquarium – $69.99
- Zoo Atlanta – $37.95
If you pay for each one separately, it would cost $69.99 + $37.95 = $107.94. The CityPass costs $106.00, so it would be cheaper to get the CityPass.
But what if you choose the second most expensive combination? That would be:
- Georgia Aquarium – $69.99
- College Football Hall of Fame – $34.89
Paying for them individually would cost you $69.99 + $34.89 = $104.88. And that is actually cheaper than the $106.00 price of the CityPass. And if you replace them with any cheaper activity, you’ll save even more money by buying them separately and not getting the CityPass.
So, if you’re only visiting 2 attractions and they are the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta, you’ll save money with the CityPass. If you choose any other combination of activities, you should NOT get the CityPass.
1 Attraction
All of the attractions cost less than $106.00 (the cost of the CityPass) individually. So if you are only visiting one attraction, you should not get the CityPASS.
Conclusion
When Atlanta CityPASS is Worth It
If you visit four or five attractions, then the Atlanta CityPASS is definitely worth it! You’ll save anywhere from $13.79 to $95.73.
If you want to do three attractions and one of them is the Georgia Aquarium, then the Atlanta CityPASS is still worth it.
If you want to visit two attractions and they are the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta, then the CityPass is still worth it.
When Atlanta CityPASS is Not Worth It
If you want to visit only one attraction, the City Pass is not worth it.
If you’d like to visit two attractions and at least one of them is NOT the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta, then the CityPass is not worth it.
And if you want to do three attractions and none of them is the Georgia Aquarium, then the CityPass is not worth it.
