The bald eagle is a beautiful creature. It is the national bird of the United States of America. And it is about time you see one up close – and in spectacular fashion. And you can do just that on the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad.
The Potomac Eagle is a train ride that starts at Wappocomo Station at 149 Eagle Drive in Romney, West Virginia. Wappocomo Station is located next to a charming homestead and an amazing, sprawling view of the mountains.
During your train ride, you’ll hear the sounds of vintage diesels. You’ll ride through beautiful pastures and farms that date all the way back to the 1700s.
The journey takes you to a 6-mile Trough. This Trough is a narrow passage the train tracks and the river share and is a permanent home of many bald eagles.
On your trip, you could see one bald eagle. Or you could see several bald eagles. They cannot guarantee that you see any bald eagles. But there is a very good chance you’ll see at least one.
There is also a concession car onboard where you can purchase snacks and drinks. Please note they only accept cash there, so you might want to bring cash on your trip.
This is one of those experiences you will never forget. It could make a great experience for an individual or for a family looking for some summer fun.
