I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Columbia, South Carolina. After all, I was born there and I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina. So I think the city is great year-round.
But it really comes alive on New Year’s Eve. There are a lot of great events around Columbia that make the night special. We’ll tell you the top events.
NYE Y2K 2023 – a 90s/2000s New Years Eve Throwback!
Tonight, you can party like it’s 1999! Or really, any year around then in this 90s/2000s New Years Eve Throwback Party! It takes place at The Senate in Columbia’s downtown Vista district. You can buy a ticket for this event here.

New Year’s Eve on the Farm
Enjoy a casual night of country music, BBQ, and oysters at the Farm in Lexington. Oh, and your ticket even includes a cigar from Stoney Creek Cigars to commemorate the new year.
As for the music, there’s live music provided by Mandy Addy and Poppy K. And as for the food, here’s the event menu:

- Oyster Roast (from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM):

New Year’s Eve Bash 2023
The Grand on Main is hosting a New Year’s Eve Bash. Festivities include a DJ, outdoor games, bowling, and of course a countdown to the ball drop.

Red Carpet NYE 2023
Would you like your New Year’s Eve to include a red carpet, photographer, champagne, beer, wine, hors d’oeuvres, a DJ, and dancing? If you answered yes, then I think you’ll love the Red Carpet New Year’s Eve Party at Smoked. You can find out more information about this party here.
New Years Eve Masquerade Bash
The Woody on Main has been voted Columbia’s Best Dance Club three years in a row. So it’d be a great place to ring in the New Year.
Especially since they have a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Bash starting at 8:00 PM. Masks and other party favors are included, and there will be a free champagne toast at midnight.
Bonus Activity: South Carolina Men’s Basketball
Okay, this event technically isn’t on New Year’s Eve. It’s on New Year’s Eve Eve. But then the men’s basketball team is playing Eastern Michigan at Colonial Life Arena at 7:00 PM. They’re even opening the doors at 5:30 PM so fans can watch the end of the Gator Bowl prior to tipoff.
