Fayetteville Arkansas best Christmas things to do

Fayetteville, Arkansas is a great city to travel to or live in during the holiday season.  That is because there are so many great things to do then that put you in the Christmas spirit!  We’re going to tell you about some of our favorites.

1. Lights of the Ozarks at Fayetteville Downtown Square

If you want to see beautiful holiday lights in Fayetteville during the holiday season, then head to Fayetteville Square.  Every night from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM, you can enjoy nearly half a million colorful Christmas lights.  There are also other fun things at the Lights of the Ozark event, like Santa and food.  It starts in November and runs through early January.

2. The Nutcracker

If you are looking for a Christmas show, you perhaps couldn’t a more iconic one than The Nutcracker.  This popular Christmas ballet is a yearly tradition for so many families.  Perhaps this is the year you should make it your family tradition!

And there is a great production of The Nutcracker in Fayetteville.  Royal Winnipeg Ballet: The Nutcracker will be coming to Baum Walker Hall at Walton Arts Center.  It takes place the weekend after Thanksgiving at the following times:

  • Friday, November 25, 2022, at 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM
  • Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 7:00 PM
  • Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 2:00 PM

3. Million Dollar Quartet Christmas

From the creators of the Tony award-winning Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartet.  If you haven’t seen Million Dollar Quartet, it is a jukebox musical about the Million Dollar Quartet recording session of December 4, 1956, which featured Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

The four are back in Million Dollar Quarter Christmas and they’re back at Sun Records, which is now decorated with a Christmas tree, garland, and mistletoe.   You get to enjoy both popular sounds of the season and the chart toppers that made the foursome so famous.  The musical is also a journey through stories of Christmas past, present, and future.

This musical will be in Fayetteville, Arkansas at Baum Walker Hall at Walton Arts Center.  There are three different showings of the musical.  You can click on the date and time to purchase your ticket:

4. NWA Holiday Market

The NWA Holiday Market is the place to go for the season’s best decorations and gifts.  It takes place from Friday. November 11, 2022, through Saturday, November 12, 2002.  It takes place at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center on 1420 South 48th Street in Springdale, Arkansas.  Click here for more information.

5. The Snowman: A Family Concert

Enjoy a special screening of The Snowman with an original score performed live by SoNA.  It is based on the children’s book by Raymond Briggs.  Stick around afterwards, when acclaimed Music Director Paul Haas leads the audience in a sing-a-long of other holiday favorites.  This takes place at the Baum Walker Hall at Walton Arts Center on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 2:00 PM.

6. The Polar Express

The Polar Express was always one of my favorite Christmas books to read when I was a kid.  Now, you and your kids can enjoy a free screening of the popular family movie!  It takes place on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Baum Walker Hall at Walton Arts Center.

7. NWA Mall

What’s Christmas without Santa?  You can see him at NWA Mall.  You can also get some good shopping in for the holiday season, too.

8. Arkansas Men’s Basketball & Lady Razorbacks Women’s Basketball Games

Who doesn’t like seeing Big Red dressed as Santa Claus?  I love going to games around Christmastime for this reason and for the overall atmosphere of games.  So consider going to one of the last home games before Christmas for the Lady Razorbacks Women’s Basketball Team or the Arkansas men’s basketball team.
