Cinco de Mayo is a commemoration of the 1862 Battle of Puebla in which the Mexican army defeated the much larger French army. It is celebrated with parties, dancing, mariachi bands, feasting, drinking and more.
Cinco de Mayo in Colorado Springs
The 38th annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta/Car Show is coming to Harrison High School in Colorado Springs. This will be happening on May 1, 2022, from 10 am to 5 pm.
This is the largest outdoor festival and car show in Colorado Springs. Enjoy live music by local bands, artists and dancers and DJs throughout the Fiesta.
There will be all makes and models at the car show. Trophies will be given out at the conclusion of the show at 5 pm.
Food vendors will be there with delectable dishes available for purchase. There will also be crafts vendors and merchandise vendors to make for a unique shopping experience.
This family friendly event is free. Be sure to bring the kids. They’ll enjoy the Kids Corner. There will be games, activities and a petting zoo.
Proceeds will go to the El Cinco de Mayo Inc. to be used for scholarships for underserved students in the local community.
On May 5, 2022, the Hispanic Chamber is having a Cinco de Mayo Celebration. Weidner Field, home of the Colorado Switchbacks, is the site of the celebration. The party will go from 6 pm to 9 pm.
You’ll see the Switchbacks play Rio Grande Valley Football Club Toros. Tickets are free for the first 50 Hispanic Chamber Business members. Tickets are $30 for non-members.

During the first week of May, there are many other smaller Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Mariachi bands perform in nightclubs. Restaurants and bars offer food and drink specials. And a great time is had by all!
