The Recording Academy, Tenth Planet Productions and CBS will present Grammy Salute To The Beach Boys. This is happening on February 8, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
The Beach Boys were nominated for four Grammy Awards but never won one in competition. Even “Good Vibrations” went 0-3 at the Grammy Awards.
The Beach Boys received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy in 2001. Four of the Beach Boys records have been voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, including “In My Room,” “Good Vibrations,” “California Girls” and the entire “Pet Sounds” album.
After the Beach Boys’ heyday, Brian Wilson received 6 more Grammy nominations and won the Grammy for “Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow” (2004) and “The Smile Sessions” (2012). Wilson was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000. He received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2007.
The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. They had four Number 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including
- “I Get Around” (1964)
- “Help Me Rhonda” (1965)
- “Good Vibrations” (1966)
- “Kokomo” (1988)
The group also had two Number 1 albums on the Billboard 200:
- “Beach Boys Concert” (1964)
- “Endless Summer” (1974)
The Beach Boys are one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful bands of all time with more than one hundred million records sold worldwide. They have performed more concerts than any major rock band in history.
