Autumn starts in the month of Mehr in Persia and its tenth day is a celebration of light, kindness, friendship and love. The festival dates back thousands of years to the pre-Islamic era. It is one of the few pre-Islamic festivals still celebrated in Iran.
From the beginning, Mehregan was a time of great celebration, pageantry and feasting. Gifts were exchanged and those who could afford it gave large amounts to the poor.
Mehregan continues to be celebrated today with great joy in Iran and also internationally wherever the Iranian diaspora are to be found.
The LA & OC Iranian American Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to celebrate Mehregan Fall Festival. This will be happening on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 11 am to 6 pm in Irvine, California.
And what, you might be asking, do you do at a Mehregan Fall Festival? The easy answer to that is you have fun!
Dance to the rhythmic beats provided by DJ Babak and live performances from singers Milad, Keyvan and Farnaz Michelle. Lose yourself in the enchanting melodies of instrumentalists and bands.
Taste the wine or enjoy a cold beer. Most people don’t know that wine making and beer brewing originated in Persia.
Indulge in a culinary celebration as you enjoy aromatic kabobs, delectable desserts, Persian ice cream and Turkish coffee. Discover the flavors that have delighted people for centuries. In the Chefs Pavilion, chefs will show you how to prepare a Persian dish.
The bustling Bazaar has more than 100 exhibitors to make for a fabulous shopping experience. Visit Hafezieh and get your fortune read from the book of poetry by the epic Iranian poet Hafez. The children’s area has some great activities for the little ones. And there will be many backdrops for photos.
