Explore Scottish traditions, music, food and more during the fun filled, family friendly Scottish Fest. The United Scottish Society is a group who love the Scottish and Celtic cultures. They host the largest Scottish and Celtic Highland Games in California every Memorial Day weekend. Their Scottish Fest is coming to the Orange County Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa on May 27 and 28, 2023.
Multiple stages will be at the fest for live music acts, including almost three hundred bag pipers and drummers. Hear world class Celtic music with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, Celtic Hollywood with Eric Rigler, Celtish, The Ploughboys and many more.
You’ll see piping and drumming contests and performances. You can also see traditional Highland dancing.
Highland games have been a part of Scotland’s culture for hundreds of years. Scots love these games so much that when they moved to other countries, they took the games with them.
The Highland games are built around traditional Highland sports, like a hammer throw and tug o’ war. You can admire the really strong men and women as they toss the caber or put the stone. See the Farmer Walk, the Sheaf Toss, sheep herding and more.
Stroll down the Scottish Clan row or get help with genealogy and tracing your Scottish/Celtic roots. Enjoy food and whiskey tastings for additional fees. See Imperial Knights Jousting.
Lots of vendors will be at the Fest, offering Scottish gifts and crafts for purchase. You can find some really unique items here.
Try some Scottish food. Scottish scones and shortbread are very tasty. So is cottage pie and tipsy laird (Scottish trifle).
