Located 15 miles from Kasilof, Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula is Lake Johnson State Recreation Area. It consists of 332 beautiful wooded acres surrounding Lake Johnson.
The Recreation Area is a popular summer destination. Kayakers and canoeists love Lake Johnson. Swimming is popular in the summer.
The scenic beauty of the area attracts many visitors. Walking trails through the woods are enjoyed by bird watchers and many others. Moose, black bears, brown bears, lynx, squirrels, loons, hares, ducks, muskrats, and many more indigenous creatures can be seen here. Enjoy amazing sunset over the lake which makes for incredible photos.
Whether you’re into fly fishing, baitcasting or spinning, your chances of getting a bite are excellent here. So grab your rod and reel and head out to the lake.
It is stocked each year with rainbow trout. Anglers have also reeled in Pacific salmon, coho salmon, and steelhead.
