We’re going to tell you about the Creole Christmas Historic Home Tour in New Orleans’ French Quarter and then we’ll tell you how you can save money on the tour.
The Friends of Cabildo are spreading some holiday magic and cheer with an enjoyable stroll to see the French Quarter’s most cherished treasures.
All the historic homes will be decorated in magnificent Creole Christmas finery. Expect to see antique velvet ribbon and old world holiday grandeur.
New Orleans has a mixture of American, Africans, Spanish, French and Creole French. This mixture has created a city and a culture unlike any other in the world. And you can’t find Creole Christmas anywhere else in the world.
Your tour will include the historic homes as well as their hidden courtyards. The homes include
- Historic BK Home & Gardens
- 1850 House Museum & Store
- The Historic New Orleans Collection
- Gallier House
- Hermann-Grima House
- Spring Fiesta House
While on the tour, you’ll learn about Christmas customs in the 1800s, including religious traditions, holiday decor and reveillon dinners. You’ll also learn about the experience of enslaved men and women and later of domestic servants without whom the holiday celebrations would not have been possible.
This will be happening on December 26 and 27, 2026. The homes and courtyards will be open from 11 am to 3 pm.
