There is something so magical about visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida during the holiday season. All the parks are decorated so beautifully. There are lots of fun Christmas festivities throughout the resort. Even the hotels are beautifully decorated.
And speaking of the hotels, one hotel in particular I really love staying at during the holiday is the Polynesian Resort.
Now, the Polynesian Resort is great any time of the year. You can see this in our virtual tour of the hotel:
But is is extra special during the holiday season. We want to tell you the reasons why your family will love staying at Disney’s Polynesian Resort during the Christmas season.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort Christmas Decorations
So I have to start with the Christmas decorations. Because they are great.
What I love about the Christmas decorations is that they fit the holiday season but they fit the Polynesian theming as well. For example, the flowers on the Christmas fit the Polynesian theming. And I love the wreaths on the tiki statues!
Monorail or Boat to Magic Kingdom
One of my favorite things about the Polynesian Resort is that you can take a monorail to the Magic Kingdom. This is great any time of the year, because while I like all parks at Disney World, Magic Kingdom will always be my favorite.
But this is especially true during the holiday season. The holiday decorations are just so gorgeous.
And Magic Kingdom is where they have Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
Mickey’s Merry Christmas Party is an after-hours holiday event my family has been going to for years now. We absolutely love it. We love the fireworks, rides with short lines, shows, and especially the parade. You can read more about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party here.
But it was really special going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party when I stayed at the Polynesian Resort. I got to take the monorail to and from the party. I didn’t have to bother with the long lines at the busses. Taking the monorail was much preferable for me. And if you don’t want to take the monorail, you could also take a boat which is also a neat way to get to and from the park.
Polynesian Christmas Music
Another neat thing about staying at the Polynesian Resort is listening to the music playing in the lobby or in their quick service restaurant, Captain Cook’s (you can read our review of Captain Cook’s here). I love hearing the Polynesian-style music. It’s very relaxing and really adds to the atmosphere of the hotel. It makes you feel like you’re taking a vacation on a Polynesian island in addition to your trip to Disney World (so it’s like two trips in one!).
But during the holiday season, it gets an extra special twist. Because they’ll play Polynesian-style Christmas music! This not only adds to your atmosphere but gets you excited the holiday season!
Booking a Stay at Polynesian During the Holiday Season
So the only negative about booking a stay at Disney’s Polynesian Resort during the holiday season is, of course, the cost. The Polynesian Resort is (understandably) one of the most expensive Disney World hotels.
But that doesn’t mean the Polynesian Resort is out of your price range. Quite the contrary. I have found by using this Disney hotel booking hack, that I can stay at the Polynesain Resort for a fraction of the cost. In fact, I’ve stayed here before during the holiday season and paid less than what you would pay at a Disney moderate. So definitely use that tip.
