Disney’s Beach & Yacht Club at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida is an amazing place to stay any time of the year, but it is extra special around Christmas.

Beach Club Christmas Carousel

That’s when the special Gingerbread Carousel goes up in the lobby at the Beach Club. There’s so much attention to detail in this beautiful Carousel, and every year is unique.  We’ve loved past year’s themes (such as this 2021 Little Mermaid theme).

I knew this year would be special, as the Beach Club is celebrating its 25th year of having a gingerbread carousel in the lobby.  I am very pleased with this year’s theme, because it represents something near and dear to my heart: holiday desserts!

Each horse on the carousel represents a different holiday dessert:

  • Fruitcake
  • Yule Log
  • Peppermint
  • Gingerbread

The fifth horse to the side of the carousel honors all of the chefs that have worked on the gingerbread carousels over the past 25 years.

And speaking of the chefs, we had the pleasure this year of watching the chefs put together the carousel.

How to save money on your dream Disney trip

It was really neat seeing the chefs at work and seeing what goes into putting a masterpiece like this together.  It was almost like getting to see some of my favorite Christmas baking shows from the Food Network in person.  This was also a great opportunity to ask the chefs questions and learn something new.

Now, you can see the finished product, including seeing the carousel spin around.  Seeing this carousel in person is a really neat experience.  It is so beautiful and there is such attention to detail.  It is truly a masterpiece made of:

  • 132 pounds of honey
  • 1200 pounds of rye flour
  • 150 pounds of eggs
  • 25 pounds of spice
  • 10 pounds of simple syrup
  • 200 pounds of icing
  • 20 quarts of egg whites
  • 100 pounds of confectioners’ sugar
  • 200 gum paste flowers
  • 50 pounds of dark chocolate
  • 20 quarts of Grand Marnier

Plus, it contains 25 hidden gold Mickeys, so you can try to spot them yourself!
