The Cherokee Street Festival Cinco de Mayo is returning on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 11 am to 8 pm. It is free for all to attend. On Cherokee Street, the festival runs from Nebraska Avenue to Jefferson Avenue.

Cherokee Street Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Hispanic culture within the Cherokee neighborhood and the creative energy that permeates all of Cherokee Street.

Festival Things to Do

Local restaurants and shops on Cherokee Street will be open alongside the festival. In addition, more than 100 vendors will be at the festival, making for an incredible shopping experience. There will be lots of authentic, delicious Mexican food for sale plus Mexican and domestic beer and Margaritas, some served in a pineapple.

There will also be merchandise vendors, selling sombreros, sunglasses, T-shirts and pretty much everything you could imagine. You can expect to see live art demonstrations and street performers.

The festival will have two grand stages with live music, dancing and entertainment going all day long, with a variety of musical genres.

Other popular activities at Cinco de Mayo Festival will include

Lucha Libre Wrestling

The wrestling will take place at the corner of Iowa and Cherokee. There will be wrestling matches from Dynamo Pro Wrestlers.

Bull Riding

You can test your skills on the mechanical bull at the corner of Cherokee and Iowa.

Kids Zone

This is located at the corner of Cherokee and Texas. The kids can bounce all day long at bounce houses. There will also be games and other activities for kids.

One highlight of the festival is the People’s Joy Parade, a grassroots effort of crepe paper float makers. This beloved parade was started to spread joy throughout the neighborhood. Many people decorate their cars or bicycles or march in costume. It’s free to enter the parade. Get creative and spread joy!
