Today is Valentine’s Day, which is the most romantic day in the year.  But the truth is, it doesn’t need to be Valentine’s Day for you to get romantic.  Or for you to do fun things with your better half.

Especially if you are traveling to or you live in Houston, Texas.  Houston, Texas has plenty of great activities for couples.  So in honor of Valentine’s Day, we came up with fourteen of the best.  And the beauty is, you don’t have to enjoy it just today.

1. Houston Downtown Aquarium & Aquarium Restaurant

There’s something so romantic about walking around a darkly lit aquarium together with your partner.  And there is a great aquarium in Downtown Houston.  It even has a great restaurant beside it, the Aquarium Restaurant, which is a personal favorite of mine (I’ve picked it out for my birthday dinner in the past).  This could make for a wonderful date.  Plus, there’s a great deal right now where you can save money on admission for two people to the aquarium and get a $50 gift card you can use at the Aquarium Restaurant.  So it not only makes for a nice date night but an affordable one, too!

2. Dining in the Dark

Another way to enjoy a memorable dinner date with your partner is with Dining in the Dark.  It is an intimate secret three-course meal that you eat blindfolded.  You have an option of either meat, seafood, or vegan food.  You can book a session here.

3. Enchanting Houston: A Romantic Urban Adventure

This tour is the perfect chance to not only get a chance to be romantic with your partner but explore Houston all at the same time!  You’ll visit romantic spots all over the city, like the Discovery Green pathways, beneath the Sabine Street Bridge, and the Sam Houston Park.  You’ll also get to explore Houston’s art scene and architecture in an intimate setting.  And like with the Houston Aquarium, you’ll get to book this experience at a discounted rate if you book it here.

4. Houston Botanic Garden

Another romantic place to walk around hand in hand with your partner is the Houston Botanic Garden.  You can literally stop and smell the flowers together and get great photo opportunities.  The sounds of birds chirping and the smell of the pine grove will add to the romantic atmosphere.  You can purchase a ticket for the Houston Botanic Garden here.

5. Houston Dune Buggy Adventures

But perhaps walks in a garden are too tame for you and your partner.  Or maybe there are multiple sides to you.  At any rate, if you are looking for something more thrilling to do with your partner, then perhaps a two-person dune buggy adventure would be more your style. So if you and your partner don’t mind getting a little muddy, this might be the perfect activity for you!

6. Houston Museum of Natural Science

But let’s say you don’t want to get dirty.  Then the Houston Museum of Natural Science may be a better choice.  There are romantic things you can do there together, like look at the stars at the Planetarium or enjoy looking at butterflies together at the Butterfly Center.  You can book discounted tickets to the Houston Museum of Natural Science here.

7. Houston Scavenger Hunt

Another way to explore Houston with your partner but at your own pace is a Houston Scavenger Hunt.  You’ll use an app on your phone to find out where to go.  You’ll explore  landmarks like Minute Maid Park, Houston City Hall, and Discovery Green.  Solving the clues with your partner is a great way for the two of you to work together.  You can book this Houston Scavenger Hunt here.

8. Private Houston Photoshoot

Enjoy exploring Houston while having a photographer follow you around on this private Houston photoshoot tour.  You’ll be guided to great photo opps you may never have thought of on your own even if you are from H-Town.  After the tour, you’ll get 45 edited high res photos.  Perfect for your social media accounts!

9. Couples Massage

Strengthen your bond with your partner while relaxing with a couples massage.  This is a great way for you to not only reconnect with your partner but relieve the tensions from your every day life.  And there’s a good deal on a Thai couples massage at Houston’s Healing Path Massage here.

10. Ballroom Dancing

Ballroom dancing is an iconic romantic activity for couples.  And you shouldn’t let the fact you don’t know how to ballroom dance get in the way of trying it.  If you live in Houston, then you can get private lessons at 70% off at Houston Ballroom Dance here.

11. Tandem Kayaking

Another way to stay active and do things as a couple is with tandem kayaking.  Tandem kayaking on the historic Buffalo Bayou is also a neat way to see a lot of great nature plus the Houston skyline in a way you’ve never seen before.  You can book a kayak rental here.

12. Kemah Boardwalk

Just thirty minutes outside of Houston, you’ll find Kemah Boardwalk.  Kemah Boardwalk overlooks Galveston Bay, and it doesn’t get much better than romantic walks along the boardwalk, especially when say the sun sets.  There are also rides there that can be very romantic, such as a Ferris Wheel ride.  You can get a discount pass for unlimited rides here.  It also comes with a dining gift card like with the Downtown Houston Aquarium deal.  You can use it on Landry’s restaurant on Kemah Boardwalk, which includes Aquarium Restaurant plus The Flying Dutchman Restaurant & Oyster Bar, Saltgrass Steakhouse, Landry’s Seafood House, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, so you can top off your romantic walk along the boardwalk with a romantic dinner.

13. Texas Wine Tasting Tour

Sipping wine with your partner is not only romantic but fun, too.  And you and your partner get to sample authentic award-winning Texan wine in a winery together in this Texas wine-tasting tour.  You’ll get to enjoy five different Texas wines at the Messina Hof Harvest Green wine cellar in nearby Richmond, Texas.  In addition to enjoying the wine, you also get to learn about regional wine-making traditions and history.

14. Romantic Weekend Getaway

And finally, why not venture a bit farther than Houston for the weekend and enjoy a romantic getaway together?  Texas has a lot of great romantic destinations.  And you can find a cheap romantic getaway in Texas here.
