Go Ape offers guests amazing outdoor experiences. They have locations all across America, but their location in Williamsburg has to be one of the most special ones. And not just because they offer a lot of fun activities (which they do). But that would be because of the location.
Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park in Williamsburg is located in Freedom Park. Like a lot of places in the Historic Triangle, Freedom Park is steeped in history. Freedom Park was actually home to one of the nation’s earliest Free Black Settlements. To honor this, there are three historically-accurate cabins from that period in Freedom Park today. They were recreated and furnished with historically accurate items from that period.
Additionally, Freedom Park serves as a memorial site for the Revolutionary War Battle of Spencer’s Ordinary. Freedom Park has an authentic 18th-century cemetery The park also has a 17th-century colonial domicile where archaeological research still goes on today.
Freedom Park is also great for nature lovers. It spreads over 600 acres. They have two miles of multiuse trails, including a one-mile ADA-accessible paved trail. There are also 20 miles of mountain bike trails. They have a Botanical Garden with 800 species of native vegetation. The park also has an Interpretive Center with exhibits of artifacts recovered during the construction of Freedom Park. And the park is bursting with wildlife, trees, creeks, meadows, and more.
So the location is great, but Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park also has a lot of fun things going on. Activities include aerial adventures, ziplining, axe throwing, and an escape game.
