Located just an hour northwest of Austin in the Central Texas Hill Country, Inks Lake State Park is great for a day trip or a weekend getaway. The park is 1,200 acres with 3 miles of shoreline at Inks Lake. The lake is surrounded by granite hills with colorful rock outcrops.
Spend the day at the lake swimming, floating, boating, water skiing, water tubing, scuba diving, snorkeling and more. A large no-wake zone has been set aside for paddling. Devil’s Waterhole is a small extension of the lake which is almost completely surrounded by rock. Swimming, diving and canoeing are enjoyed there.
The landscape is hilly with plateau live oak, cedar, juniper, elm, oak, sycamore, willow, box elders and wildflowers. Lace up those boots and explore the more than 8 miles of trails. Cross creeks and walk over rocks that are more than a billion years old.. Keep your eyes peeled for white tail deer, armadillos, racoons, squirrels, jackrabbits, skunks, fox and coyotes.
The Bird Blind is a beautiful wildlife viewing station and an excellent place to go birding. You could see

The park features campsites, many of which are lakeside or have easy access to the lake. Many have picnic tables, water hook up, fire rings and/or upright grills.
