Lobster Diving Tour In San Diego
Go diving for lobsters! That sounds like fun, doesn’t it? And it is! The best part of all is at the end of your dive, you can take home the California spiny lobsters you caught. And that’s a real treat!
Lobsters are most active at night so that’s when the lobster dive takes place.
Professional guides take small groups on lobster diving tours. You must be 13+ years of age. Beginners are welcome.

Spearfishing lobsters is illegal so you’ll have to catch them with your hands. That way is actually a lot more fun.
The state of California allows you to catch up to 7 spiny lobsters of legal size. Your guide can educate you about the legal size.
You must have a California fishing license and a lobster report card. These can be purchased at the La Jolla Water Sports shop at the time of your tour.
Your guide will get you outfitted properly and let you get familiar with your gear. He or she will lead you to the best spots in the La Jolla Cove to catch spiny lobster.
Once in the water, you’ll see all the beautiful aquatic life and fish. See underwater rock formations, flora, and marine life, including anemones, garibaldi fish, sea cucumbers, starfish, and more. Enjoy the beauty of an underwater world teeming with life and color.
And then it is time to get down to catching yourself some lobsters and to anticipate their melt in your mouth deliciousness!
