We’re going to tell you about a haunted castle and its paranormal activity. And then we’re going to tell you how you can save money on your stay at the castle.
The castle we’re talking about here is Tulloch Castle in Dingwall, Scotland. It dates back to the 12th century. While no one knows when the paranormal activity began, it’s been reported for centuries.
From the 16th century to the 18th century, the castle belonged to the Bayne family. The Davidson family purchased it and held it until the 20th century. In the 1940s, Tulloch Castle was used as a hospital for casualties of Dunkirk. From the mid 1940s to the mid 1970s, it was used as a hostel for students taking classes at Dingwall Academy. In 1996, the castle was converted to a hotel.
Given extended family and household staff, hundreds of people have made Tolloch Castle their home over the centuries. So it can’t be surprising that there are some restless souls lingering here.
A number of apparitions have been captured on film. That had prompted numerous investigations into the castle. The investigators found balls of light, orbs and icy cold patches. They recorded noises, including clicks, bangs and thuds for which there were no reasonable explanations.
The most frequently seen ghost is the Green Lady. She’s been seen so much that the bar in the castle is named The Green Lady Bar. There’s a portrait in the Grand Hall that’s believed to be the Green Lady.
She’s a sad, elegant lady in a long silk dress. She’s thought to be Elizabeth Davidson, the daughter of a former owner. Guests and staff who have seen her have reported a feeling of overwhelming sadness. It’s been reported that she whispers “Why?” over and over again.
In the Pink Room, the apparition of a former maid has been seen pacing the room. A guest in Room 8 reported he was pinned down against his bed by an invisible force. Room 8 is also the home of numerous orbs.
Tulloch Castle has retained many of its period features including 250 year old panelled Great Hall, fireplaces and ceilings. It has well appointed en suite bedrooms. Guests can expect exceptional hospitality, comfortable surroundings and delicious food.
