Beach Waterpark in South Padre Island, Texas is truly a unique waterpark.  It has great rides and features you’d want in a waterpark, such as water slides and a lazy river.  But let’s face it, not every waterpark has a direct access boardwalk straight to the beach like the appropriately named Beach Waterpark does.

Yes, Beach Waterpark is the only beachfront waterpark in Texas.  And today I want to tell you more about, including its history, rides, attractions, and how you can save money on a ticket.

Waterpark History

The waterpark has been around for over 20 years.  You may know it as Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark, but it is now known as just Beach Waterpark.  Despite the name change, the waterpark has the same local owners and operators as it did when it first opened in 2001.

Rides & Attractions

Sandcastle Cove

Sandcastle Cove has the distinction of being named by USA Today as one of the top five children’s water attractions in the nation.  It is a five-story high water play structure decorated like it is a huge sandcastle.  It features interactive play elements, slides, and huge sand pails that tip and drop water on guests.

Gale Force

Gale Force is one of Beach Waterpark’s four uphill water coasters.  You and your inner tube will be taken above the Rio Aventura (the connected waterway that floats guests between attractions) and then you’ll be floated directly into the river system.

Sea Blaster

Sea Blaster is another uphill water coaster.  It winds over and around Rio Aventura.  You can easily access this ride from the river system and when you’re done, you’re returned into the river.

Storm Chaser

Storm Chaser is another uphill water coaster directly off the Rio Aventura.  A short conveyer lifts you up the first hill and then blasters take over.  After the ups and downs of the suspended flumes, you’ll then be returned to the Rio Aventura.

The Agua Blanca

This twisting tube chute goes from the upper part of Rio Aventura to the lower channel.  You’ll be floating from pool to pool.

Pirate’s Plunge

Pirate’s Plunge is a themed tube ride where you’ll go from the upper part of the Rio Aventura to the lower region.

Wizard’s Waterways

Wizard’s Waterways consists of three colorful body slides that start on a giant sand bucket and finish into a pool below.

Squid Row

Squid Row is a safe and padded children’s play area with zero-entry and play elements designed for younger guests.

Lily Pad

The Lily Pad is a great spot in the waterpark for young children.  It features an aqua blue wading pool, a frog slide, and a raining mushroom.  You can even rent private palapas with BBQ grills in the area.

Surf Rider

Want to try surfing in a soft-surfaced, safer environment?  Then Surf Rider is for you!  Hour rentals and lessons are available here.

Soaring Eagle

Want to add some thrill to your waterpark experience?  How about zip lining?  Soaring Eagle reaches heights of almost 100 feet and speeds of 35 miles per hour.  It goes both backwards and forwards.  And you’ll get great views of the waterpark, the beaches, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Bob’s Float-In Bar

Ever think a waterpark doesn’t have enough for adults?  Not here!  There’s a swim up bar with multiple specialty drinks (and you can even keep the glass afterwards).  There’s also island favorite foods you can order here like Quesadillas, Calamari, Stuffed Jalapenos, and more.
