The Alice in Wonderland Maze at Shanghai Disneyland is a fun attraction – and an excellent place for photo opportunities!
Even if you’ve already visited Alice’s Curious Labyrinth (the Alice in Wonderland maze in Disneyland Paris), this is a completely different experience. The maze in Paris is themed to the 1951 animated film, while the maze in Shanghai is themed to 2010 Tim Burton version.
Let’s take a look at some of the things you can expect from Shanghai Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Maze. We’ll also make note of some of the parts you won’t want to miss! Because of this, there will be some spoilers for the attraction, so keep this in mind if you want to visit spoiler-free.
And after that, we’ll let you know a way to save money on your admission to the theme park!
The Alice in Wonderland Maze Attraction
The Entrance
You’ll choose between three closed doors in order to enter the maze. Here’s your first spoiler: it doesn’t actually matter which door you choose. There are no “wrong” options. It’s just a fun way to get started.
Wonderland Garden
Here, you’ll explore the fun and whimsical theming. You can get photos of the decor and the statues of the characters.
Cheshire Cat
Next, you’ll reach a cave, where you’ll find the Cheshire Cat. Take the time to watch the cat’s entertaining projections on the cave wall.
Red Queen’s Garden
This is the most visually stunning part of the attraction. The decor is fittingly red and quite lavish. And while you most likely will have to wait for it, don’t pass up getting a photo of the Queen’s gigantic head. You can also view a silly and distorted image of yourself in the funhouse mirrors here.
The Maze
By this point, you’ve reached the maze itself. And if you’re looking for a very challenging puzzle… this isn’t it. The main point of the attraction is really how visually stunning and well-themed the rest of it is, not the maze part itself.
Tea Party
The experience concludes with the Very Merry Unbirthday party. And unlike the rest of the attraction, the theming here actually more resembles the cartoon movie version of Alice in Wonderland. The brightly colored setting makes for more excellent photo ops.
Additional Tips
While the maze itself is not particularly difficult, it can take you some time to walk through the entire attraction – especially if there are a lot of people in your way taking photos. If you’re not looking to spend a bit of time walking around outdoors, you might want to come back when you’re feeling more refreshed.
Speaking of coming back later, to get the full experience, consider going back at night. The maze will look very different (but also well-lit, so you don’t need to worry about having any trouble seeing).
