A visit to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, will never be cheap. But there are ways to make your vacation a lot more affordable.
My family and I have traveled to Disney World many times for over thirty years. And we have picked up a lot of hacks along the way that have saved us thousands of dollars.
So now we want to share with you these hacks so you, too, can save money on your Disney World vacation.
Earning Money For Your Trip
The first hack is how to get more money you can use to pay for your trip. And no, I am not telling you how to get another job. What I recommend you do is to do Swagbucks.
Swagbucks is a way to earn money from doing things online that could be as simple as an internet search. You can also earn Swagbucks from fun things like passing levels on a game or answering trivia questions.
Some of what you earn may not seem like a lot, but it adds up. Especially since a lot of the ways you earn are fun or something you are already doing (for example, you can submit receipts and get Swagbucks for grocery store purchases you are already making). I personally have made thousands of dollars from Swagbucks.
Once you earn these Swagbucks, you can redeem them for gift cards. And one of those gift cards is Disney!
You can then use those Disney gift cards for dining in the park or to pay off a hotel bill. I love using Disney gift cards for dining because food and drinks really add up on a vacation, and it’s nice to not have to go into my life savings for a meal and instead whip out a gift card.
We go into more detail about how to earn money from Swagbucks here.
Disney World Food & Drinks
Speaking of food and drinks, as I said before, food and drinks can add up during your time at Disney World. Luckily, we found some ways to save money on Disney World dining here.
Disney World Park Tickets
So obviously, during a Disney World trip, you’re going to want to visit the Disney World theme parks.
We give you tips on how to save money on Disney World tickets here. This will help you save money on general admission to the Disney World theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom).
If you are looking to save money on the Disney World waterparks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon), then check out these tips for discounted waterpark tickets.
There are after-hours events at Disney World that require separate tickets. We tell you about coupons for these events here:
Disney World Hotel Deals
Unless you live in Orlando, you will have to factor lodging into your Disney World vacation budget.
You can stay off-site, which can save you a lot of money.
But what if you want to stay on-site at Disney World? After all, staying on-site at Disney World has a lot of advantages.
You might think staying at a Disney World hotel is out of your price range. But luckily, we know a lot of great hacks that have saved us hundreds of dollars on one stay alone.
The best hack is to rent DVC (or Disney Vacation Club) points and stay at a DVC room at a Disney World hotel. You do not have to be a Disney Vacation Club member to do this. We tell you how to book a DVC room here.
But we have other hacks, too. Here are some hacks for individual Disney World hotels we’ve shared with you:

Saving Money Before You Go
And finally, you can start saving money before you even go. And that is by buying essential items like sunscreen and rain ponchos before your visit. Disney jacks up the price if you buy these items onsite, so purchasing these items before your trip is important. We have a full list of what to buy before you go here.
